Customization: The 48-Hour Mask Challenge - Creating Over 100 Custom Designs Against the Clock

When I accepted a customization project for a major real estate company’s event, I thought it would be a straightforward challenge. The agency initially requested around 30 customized masks to be completed within two days. As an artist who thrives under pressure, I happily accepted.


Little did I know that those 30 masks would quickly turn into more than 100 custom-designed pieces—all within the same two-day timeframe.



The challenge wasn’t just the quantity. It was the limited resources available. Many of the materials I needed weren’t readily accessible, which meant I had to get creative and recycle whatever supplies I could find. Every ribbon, fabric piece, embellishment, and decorative element had to be carefully repurposed and transformed into something visually stunning.


To help manage the workload, I brought an assistant who supported me with sourcing materials, organizing supplies, and handling the countless tasks that come with a project of this scale.


However, every design concept, alteration, customization, and artistic decision remained in my hands. I was the master designer behind each mask, ensuring every piece had its own unique personality and visual impact.



The masks were created for a diverse range of performers, including musicians, singers, models, dancers, and entertainment artists. No two designs were alike. Each mask needed to reflect the energy, style, and character of the person wearing it, making the project both exciting and demanding.


Sleep became a luxury.


For almost two consecutive days, I operated on sheer determination and adrenaline. My workdays would begin around 9 or 10 in the morning and often stretch until 2 or 3 in the morning. The following day was no different. I would continue working until as late as 4 a.m., pushing through exhaustion to ensure every mask met the standard I envisioned.


As if producing over 100 customized masks wasn’t enough, another creative challenge arrived on the day of the event. I was tasked with designing and decorating the entrance using an artistic mask installation that would immediately immerse guests into the event’s atmosphere.


With only hours to spare, I transformed the entrance into a visually striking display filled with masks and creative details that complemented the theme and elevated the overall guest experience.


Then came the moment of truth.


As the performers arrived wearing their customized pieces and the venue came to life, the reaction was everything an artist hopes for. Guests admired the craftsmanship, performers loved their personalized designs, and the masks became a talking point throughout the event.



The compliments poured in—not only from the agency that entrusted me with the project but also from the main client, one of the region’s leading real estate companies.


Hearing such positive feedback after days of intense work made every sleepless hour worthwhile.


Projects like these remind me why I love what I do. Creativity isn’t always about having unlimited resources or endless time. Sometimes it’s about finding solutions when resources are limited, adapting when requirements suddenly grow, and delivering excellence under pressure.

What started as a request for 30 masks became a creative marathon of over 100 customized pieces, a themed entrance installation, and countless unforgettable moments.


It was exhausting.

It was challenging.



And it was absolutely worth it.

Because sometimes the biggest artistic victories come from the projects that push us beyond what we thought was possible.
