Every year on 28 August, the UAE celebrates Emirati Women’s Day - a national occasion dedicated to recognising the achievements, contributions and aspirations of Emirati women. The date also commemorates the establishment of the General Women’s Union in 1975, an institution that has played a significant role in advancing women’s empowerment in the UAE.
But beyond the official celebrations, Emirati Women’s Day is about something deeply human: celebrating the women behind the achievements—the mothers, daughters, entrepreneurs, leaders, creatives, professionals and visionaries who continue to shape the UAE.
A Celebration of Achievement, Culture and Inspiration
Emirati women have contributed to virtually every part of the UAE’s development, from education and business to science, culture, government and the arts. UAE government sources describe women as key partners in the nation’s development and emphasise the importance of recognising their achievements and inspiring future generations.
For me, as an artist who has spent years working across the UAE’s events and hospitality industry, this makes Emirati Women’s Day particularly meaningful.
Because art has always been about telling stories.
And what better story to tell than the story of a woman?
Where Art Meets Emirati Women’s Day
Corporate organisations, government entities, hotels, malls, women’s associations and private brands often mark the occasion with celebrations, networking events, employee appreciation activities, exhibitions and community activations.
This is where I can bring something different.
I don’t simply provide entertainment.
I create an experience where women become the inspiration behind the artwork.
As an Event Visual Artist, I can transform an Emirati Women’s Day celebration into a live, interactive artistic experience—something guests can watch, participate in and remember long after the event ends.
1. Live Women’s Portrait Sketching
Imagine guests arriving at an Emirati Women’s Day event and having their portraits created live in just a few minutes.
It could be:
Elegant fashion or beauty portraits
Quick personalised sketches
Mother-and-daughter portraits
Best-friend portraits
Team portraits
Executive portraits
Emirati women’s inspirational portraits
Each guest leaves with something personal—a piece of art created specifically for her.
2. Live Art Performance Inspired by Emirati Women
A live painting or visual art performance can tell a larger story.
The artwork could evolve throughout the event, incorporating elements representing:
Her heritage. Her ambition. Her family. Her achievements. Her future.
The final artwork can become a memorable keepsake for the organisation or even be displayed permanently in its office, hotel or women’s initiative space.
3. Personalised Bag, Shoe & Product Customisation
For brands and retail events, I can turn Emirati Women’s Day into an interactive customisation experience.
Guests can bring or receive a product and have it personalised with:
Arabic-inspired motifs
Initials
Names
Flowers
Feminine illustrations
UAE-inspired elements
Bespoke patterns
Inspirational words
This works especially well for fashion, beauty, lifestyle and luxury brands because the guest doesn’t just receive a product—they receive a one-of-one piece of art.
4. Women’s Stories Through Illustration
Another concept I love is creating a live illustration around the stories of women.
Guests could answer a simple question:
“What does being a woman mean to you?”
Their answers could become words, symbols and illustrations incorporated into a large live artwork.
By the end of the celebration, the artwork becomes a collective visual story created by the women themselves.
5. Corporate Women’s Day Art Activations
For companies celebrating their female employees, art can become part of employee engagement.
I can create experiences such as:
“She Inspires Me” Wall
Employees write the name of a woman who inspires them, while I transform the messages into a collaborative artwork.
“Her Story” Portrait Wall
A series of live portraits celebrating inspiring women within the organisation.
“Women of Our Company”
A large illustrated artwork featuring female employees, leaders, milestones and company values.
These concepts can be adapted for government departments, corporations, hotels, universities and community organisations.
Why Art Is Powerful for This Occasion
A speech lasts a few minutes.
A photograph captures a moment.
But art can preserve a story.
That is what makes live art particularly powerful for Emirati Women’s Day. It gives organisations a way to celebrate women visually and emotionally—not simply through a stage programme, but through something guests can interact with and take home.
And because I approach my work as both an artist and event creative, I think about more than simply creating a beautiful drawing.
I think about the experience, the storytelling, the visual impact and the memories people will take away.
My Connection as an Artist
My work has taken me into corporate events, luxury hotels, brand activations, conferences, malls and private celebrations across the UAE and internationally.
I have created live sketches, customisations, sand animations, live art performances and interactive artwork for brands and organisations.
This experience allows me to combine two worlds:
ART + EVENTS.
I can create something visually beautiful while also understanding the practical requirements of an event—guest flow, branding, engagement, timing, photography opportunities and the overall guest experience.
That is particularly important for an occasion like Emirati Women’s Day, where the activation should feel elegant, meaningful and culturally respectful.
A Celebration That Looks Beyond the Event
Emirati Women’s Day is not only about celebrating what women have achieved.
It is also about looking forward.
It is about the women who are building businesses today, the girls discovering their talents, the mothers raising future generations, the leaders creating change and the creatives expressing a new vision for the UAE.
And that is where I believe art has a beautiful role to play.
We can turn their stories into something people can see.
Something they can touch.
Something they can photograph.
And something they can remember.
Let’s Create Something for Her
For organisations planning an Emirati Women’s Day celebration on 28 August, I offer bespoke live art and interactive artistic experiences designed around the event’s theme, audience and brand identity.
Whether it is a luxury hotel celebration, corporate gathering, government event, mall activation, women’s networking event or private celebration, the artwork can be completely customised to the occasion.
Because every woman has a story worth celebrating.
And as an artist, my job is to help bring that story to life.
Looking to create an unforgettable Emirati Women’s Day experience?
Let’s create something beautiful for her.
